Close second would be The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series by Ann Brashares for it's realness and the way it captures true friendship and the individual personalities.
What television show stands the test of time?
So many television shows come to mind, but I think I might have to go with My So-Called Life (re-released on DVD next month!). A part of me wants to say Veronica Mars but it was only cancelled this past May. Though, I have watched Seasons 1-2 at least two times each. Possibly more.
Did you see the Harry Potter movie this weekend? Are you going to read the new book?
I guess today is Harry Potter day in terms of entries. But yes I saw the movie this past weekend. Definitely did not disappoint. It was a lot darker than the previous movies but I thought it was to be expected. The characters are older and Voldemort is finally in the picture -- the atmosphere of the movies has to change. The director did a good job of compressing that really long book into movie form. The vital plot lines were focused on, certain tweaks were made but overall, stayed true to the heart and at times, even text of book. Of course little details were left out that I wish had been included (concerning the prophecy and the Order of the Phoenix) but what can you do. And the magic scenes were really well done and depicted better than I could have imagined. In the book certain scenes were hard to picture with all that was going on. Now just four more days until the last book comes out. Susan and I will be waiting at Barnes&Nobles until midnight to get our reserved books. Can't waaaait.
Books: Show us the longest book you've ever read. (All the way through.)
(Couldn't find a better picture - Vox/Amazon you disappoint me!)
Anyways, this is almost kind of embarassing that the longest book I've read is a Harry Potter book. Not that I'm ashamed of my fanaticism! But I checked the page count for Tolstoy's Anna Karenina and even Homer's Iliad .. and this book is longer than either of them! I'd list Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rynd but I didn't finish it yet. Oh well. So here's the longest book I've read: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Tell us two truths and a lie about yourself.
This is the exact same ice breaker used on a Veronica Mars episode! (The one where she goes to a Hearst College open house with Wallace). Don't mind me, I spent most of yesterday having a little VM marathon.
My answer: I'm a bag-a-holic, I'm not afraid of spiders and I love Macs.
What was your favorite TV season finale this year?
Submitted by Kristine.
Lost! Without a doubt. The show had a shaky start this season but they definitely pulled it together for the second half. Especially with the finale. Can't believe we have to wait unil February for the next episode.
Best moment (or one of the best moments) -- when Hurley comes in with the van to save the day! Thank goodness he saved Jin =P Sayid too. Ah, good stuff.
Audio: Show us the best album (new or old) that you've bought this year.
I'm constantly on the hunt for new music but this year (at least so far), three albums have really stood out for me. The album "When All That's Left Is You" by Quietdrive, "The Story and the Song" by Between the Trees and "Cities" by Anberlin.
